Midcoast Island E-Bike Tour

Workshop Description

Join us and Maine Sport Outfitters' guides on an e-bike tour of Vinalhaven Island, where we'll pedal past inlets, coves, and quarries and ride through the fishing village.

Tours will begin at Maine Sport's Rockland store, where Maine Guides will outfit you with your e-bike and bike helmet. We’ll ride down to the Rockland ferry landing and roll our bikes onto the boat for the crossing to Vinalhaven. Once we disembark at the ferry landing, we’ll pedal out along Granite Island Road, loop past the granite quarries for an impromptu history lesson on how Maine’s granite industry built the East Coast’s cities, and head over to Geary’s Beach or Lawson’s Quarry where we’ll enjoy a boxed lunch.

After lunch, we’ll head north toward Brown’s Head light and a view of North Haven and the Camden Hills. Here, we will pick up the ferry phone and hail the short ferry while we will loop around North Haven. Eventually, we’ll retrace our steps, and head back to the village for ice cream and the ferry back to Rockland.

Please note that the minimum age to participate is 16.

What about transportation?

We’ll meet at Maine Sport Outfitters in Rockport and transit to our departure point together.

What should I pack?

Participants should bring:

• A bottle of water
• Sunscreen
• Sunglasses
• Snacks (optional)
• Appropriate, comfortable clothing that allows for a range of movement
• Windbreaker layer for the ferry ride
• A sense of adventure!

What's the difficulty level?

Minimal.

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Maine Sport does not usually cancel trips due to inclement weather. However, small craft advisories or forecasts of lightening or severe weather will result in a cancellation.

Cancellations

The payment is 50% refundable in the event you have to cancel, as long as the cancellation is made 21 days before the trip. After that time, your payment is non-refundable unless the trip is cancelled for weather reasons. Alternately, 100% of your payment will be refunded if a replacement can be found prior to the trip.

This workshop needs a minimum of four participants. In the event the minimum is not met, we may cancel or offer to move you to a different workshop.
