Care Guide (If Applicable)

Bring a piece of history into your home with these vintage glass insulator pendant lights.

The maker sourced these insulators in Maine before acid-washing them to ensure beautiful, shiny glass. Because of their age, there are slight imperfections in the glass, but they add to the history and character.

Each light includes a LED dimmable 7 watt bulb (which is equivalent to a 60 watt incandescent) in soft white.

The insulator is approximately 4" tall and 3.5" wide.

The black ceiling canopy is 5" in diameter, 1" high, with 2-3/4" bar holes, and it comes with all mounting hardware. Cable glands will match canopy finish.

Cable length is 36," but you can shorten them if you'd like when you hang them. The cable must be wired in.

Glass insulators were used from the 1870s to the 1950s for communication towers for telegraphs and telephones.

Due to the insulators being old, there may be some slight imperfections.

Teal Hemingray Glass Company, with production based in the midwest, made these Hemingray-42 insulators from 1921 to 1960, and it was one of the most popular insulators used in the 20th century. The Hemingray-42 insulator was considered an improved version of the Hemingray-40 because it could be used for telegraph and telephone lines.
Aqua Whitall Tatum Company of New Jersey made Whitall Tatum No 1s from 1922 to 1938, when they sold the company. Whitall Tatum Company was one of the first glass companies in America, and it is also well know for its mass production of glass prescription bottles.
Green These light green insulators were produced by McLaughlin Glass Company of California between the late 1920s and 1935. Considered the competition to the Hemingray-42 made by Hemingray Glass Company, the McLaughlin 42 glass insulator has a very similar shape and drip pattern.
