Workshop Description

Join Maine Sport Outfitters and the Bayview Collection for a luxurious two day paddling and pedaling adventure in and around Penobscot Bay.

Begin your trip with a overnight stay at the Rockport Harbor Hotel overlooking picturesque Rockport Harbor. The next morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we’ll paddle the view from your hotel window past Indian Island lighthouse on our way to Camden. Paddling past ledges, diving cormorants, and crying terns we’ll land on Curtis Island and eat a catered lunch next to the Curtis Island Lighthouse. After lunch and a shoreside break, we enter bustling Camden harbor; we’ll paddle past schooners under sail, working lobstermen and yachts from around the globe. On the second evening, guests will stay at 16 Bayview and can enjoy a cocktail and rooftop views of the harbor we just paddled into.  Guests will have the evening to explore Camden and enjoy dinner at any one of the many restaurants overlooking the harbor.

On our final day, we’ll swap our paddles for pedals and our Maine Sport guides will lead an e-bike tour along the Camden Hills past farms and fields and the famed Belted Galloways of Rockport, through wooded paths along the harbor and eventually back to the Rockport Harbor Hotel where our trip began.

Please note that the minimum age to participate is 16.

Frequently Asked Questions

What about transportation?

We’ll meet at Maine Sport Outfitters in Rockport and transit to our departure point together.

What should I pack?

Generally, you’ll want to pack paddling clothes for time on the water and then cozy “apres paddle” clothes for dinner and the overnight at the hotel. Paddling clothes should include synthetic (no cotton please) shorts, water shoes and a long sleeve top. We encourage paddlers to bring a rain jacket and an insulating layer to be stored in your boat’s hatches if the weather turns rainy. Be sure to include swimwear for a dip in the quarry. Suitcases or duffels with “regular” clothing will be transported to the hotel (day one) and the finish (day three.) Maine Sport will provide kayak, life vests, paddles, dry bags, and e-bike.

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Maine Sport does not usually cancel trips due to inclement weather. However, small craft advisories or forecasts of lightening or severe weather, will result in a cancellation.  If Maine Sport cancels your trip, you will receive a full refund for all costs except the reservation at the Rockport Hotel & 16 Bayview.  We will maintain your reservation at the both hotels to ensure all of our guests have a place to stay during the busy summer season. All refunds will be in the form of the original transaction. Maine Sport is not be responsible or liable for other expenses incurred by the participant as a result of such a cancellation.

Do I need a lot of paddling experience?

Some paddling experience is recommended.

Cancellations

The payment is 50% refundable in the event you have to cancel, as long as the cancellation is made 21 days before the trip. After that time, your payment is non-refundable unless the trip is cancelled for weather reasons. Alternately, 100% of your payment will be refunded if a replacement can be found prior to the trip.
