The misson of Tröskö Design is to fill your home with contemporary patterns, vibrant colors, bold graphics, and smiles. Designer Solvejg Makaretz’s Scandinavian roots reveal themselves in her use of bright hues and modern, stylized themes. Solvejg’s designs start as small sketches on anything from napkins to graph-paper or on the back of a receipt. She then transfers the idea into the computer program Illustrator. The fabrics she uses for Tröskö products are either digitally printed or screen-printed. Solvejg finds inspiration for her artwork in many places: memories from her childhood and early adulthood in Sweden and Denmark surrounded by timeless Scandinavian Design, her daily life on the coast of Maine, Scandinavian children’s book illustrators (such as Ib Spang Olsen, Tove Jansson, and Sven Nordqvist), and more.
Tröskö Design’s Whale Pillow was featured in Martha Stewart’s Maine must-haves!
I love hearing back from customers telling me how my designs brighten their day!Solvejg Makaretz
