Climb Katahdin, the tallest peak in Maine, on this 4-day/3-night guided trip in Baxter State Park. Although this hike is strenuous, you’ll be rewarded by exciting trails, spectacular views and the comfort of a bunkhouse at night. This is the perfect trip for the outdoor enthusiast!
Day 1: Meet at Maine Sport Outfitters in Rockport. We’ll all pile into a large passenger van and make our way to Millinocket. Then get acquainted with your hiking companions during a welcome dinner at the Big Moose Inn. Stay the night at the Big Moose Inn.
Day 2: Start the morning off with breakfast. After properly fueling, we’ll start with a moderate hike up to the Chimney Pond Campground, where we’ll be staying for two nights.
Day 3: Today, we day-hike to the summit of Katahdin (5,267 feet) via the Cathedral Trail and Saddle Trail. Then conquer Pamola Peak (4,902 feet) via the spectacular Knife Edge Trail. We’ll sleep well in our bunks at Chimney Pond Campground.
Day 4: After a hearty breakfast, we’ll pack up and hike the 3 miles back to the parking lot. Then we’ll head back to Rockport where we’ll say our goodbyes.
